Home and Away jail fears for Tane as devastating story escalates

Home and Away spoilers follow for Australian-paced episodes, which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.

Home and Away favourite Tane Parata is at risk of facing jail time due to the manipulations of the soap’s newest villain Kerrie Matheson. She’s made no secret of the fact that she thinks he’s an unfit father, but after her own kids told her to leave Summer Bay, she decided to target him for revenge. Fans watching Down Under saw her plant a bag of drugs in baby Archie’s cot and call the police, who promptly arrested him during a search.

TV Week reports that this week’s scenes (which will air in a few weeks’ time on Channel 5) will see Tane trying to protest his innocence while being held in a cell. He’s convinced that Kerrie has framed him, and Harper agrees.

One person who doesn’t agree though is Sergeant David Langham, who thinks that Tane is trouble and would rather his daughter Jo stay away from him. He’s not the only one with bias either, as Cash Newman tries to help Tane out in different ways, even posting his bail.

That’s quite an unethical thing to do and a major conflict of interests as a police officer, so David has no choice but to take him off the case.

He tells Tane and Harper that he’s not going to let that stop him and will continue to investigate the case by trying to track down Kerrie. That’s easier said than done, however, as they don’t even know where to start.

It looks like it’s going to be a race against time, as David goes through Tane’s phone and finds apparent ‘evidence’ that proves he’s been scoring drugs from dealers.

In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7Plus.

Coronation Street – here’s why the show took Bernie in a dark new direction

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street star Jane Hazlegrove has explained why the soap has taken Bernie Winter-Alahan’s storyline in a dark new direction. Viewers will know that the character is facing a terrifying ordeal after taking drugs in a hotel room with sinister new stranger Mal Roper.

The newcomer has since been hassling her, with things set to get more fraught next week when Bernie is arrested after Mal is found with a head injury – though whether she is the culprit remains to be seen.

Opening up about Bernie’s darker turn recently, Jane noted that the show hasn’t really looked into her character’s grief over the loss of son Paul in 2024 and now son-in-law Billy Mayhew, which have been a catalyst for her downward spiral.

“I was pleased that we were going to go there, because as we all know, we all have to experience it as we go through life,” she explained. “She’d buried it for the last 18 months, Billy being the absolute catalyst. He was a tiny piece of Paul and that just compounded everything.

“And she’d been there for everyone else, hadn’t she? At the same time she had all the stuff with finding Kit, and then all the stuff happening with Brody. And she was spread very thin.

“She was sort of sticking plasters on all sorts, I think,” Jane added. “But, as we all know, grief doesn’t have any rules. It’s just going to come and get you whenever it can and that is what happened with Bernie.”

Of course, Bernie hasn’t told husband Dev the full story about her decision to do drugs, with him currently unaware that she was in a room with Mal.

Jane admitted that it is “always a half-truth with her”, and that “all her life she’s had to tell lies because she’s not been a good mum”, further noting that Bernie has never “experienced kindness like” she has with Dev.

Further praising her character, the actor said: “She’s a survivor. And I think that’s very much a working-class thing as well.”

“You want to keep her edges,” she added. “I love it that they write that for her, it’s a real thrill to go, ‘Oh, no, what’s she done now?'”

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.

Hollyoaks airs deadly ending for show villain ahead of final surprise twist

Hollyoaks spoilers follow for the latest episode to air on E4 and stream on the Channel 4 service.

Hollyoaks has confirmed the dramatic outcome of the McQueen siege, as evil Sully launched his latest plan. After the events of the previous episode, Dodger Savage realised he had no choice but to break fellow corrupt cop Smithy out of the police station. Sully also had the kidnapped Vicky Grant speak to her dad Donny Clark, telling him that her life was in danger if he didn’t do exactly what was demanded of him.

Back at the station, Dodger managed to set the fire alarm off and escort Smithy out of an interrogation with Superintendent Singh. Donny turned up in his car, as per Sully’s instructions.

Viewers didn’t hear Sully’s next demand, but the look Dodger gave made it clear: Sully told them to kill Smithy.

Smithy tried to beg for his life, but Donny coldly told a disturbed-looking Dodger to “tell Sully we’ll do exactly what he wants”, before driving off.

After a multitude of ‘what if’ sequences where John Paul imagined all the ways his life could have been different, Myra returned home and the family realised that they’re no longer in danger.

The scenes cut to Dodger and Donny looking remorseful in a field, while Vicky returned home and burst into tears as she hugged her sister Gemma.

However, it soon transpired the two had only staged some photos to make it look like they’d killed Smithy.

Dodger caught up with Donny in the village later on and and told him that Singh had taken Sully back into custody, and that the villain believed what he’d seen in the photos.

Dodger wasn’t convinced that their nightmare was truly over though, stating that Sully has “got eyes everywhere so he’ll find out soon enough”.

Donny was happy to put the whole thing behind him. But Dodger wasn’t. He insisted they need to tell Singh everything that happened with Sully, dating back to the harrowing events of October, in order to avoid doing time for breaking a criminal out of the station.

Donny was still adamant he’d never admit to what was done to him, telling his friend: “You’re on your own.”

Can Dodger ever get through to him?

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.

Coronation Street reveals Megan’s jaw-dropping new Sam plan in early ITVX episode

Coronation Street spoilers follow for tonight’s (20 February) episode, which is streaming now on ITVX and YouTube.

Coronation Street has revealed a jaw-dropping new plan for Megan Walsh as Sam Blakeman tries to get evidence amid her disturbing storyline. Sam has been determined to expose the sports coach after learning that she has been grooming teenager Will Driscoll.

Sam has since concocted a plan to plant a secret camera in Megan’s flat to get proof – though tonight’s episode sees her turn the tables after cottoning on to his scheme.

In the episode, Megan almost gets caught with Will after Leanne returns to the flat a day early, as she manages to sneak him out as Leanne uses the bathroom.

Later on during a girls’ night out, Leanne teases Megan and suggests she’s using the flat as a love nest for her and Daniel, unaware of the dark truth.

While getting a round of drinks, Megan spots Sam and threatens him, declaring: “I’ll be honest with you Sam, you might believe you’re clever, but you’re nowhere near as smart as you think you are.

“You’re nothing but a big fish in a grubby little pond. As soon as you get out in the real world, you’ll realise you’re nothing special. Far from it.”

When Sam seems off later, Megan suggests to companions Eva, Toyah and Leanne that it is just normal teenage struggles, though he later manages to watch the video captured in the flat.

However, what he sees is staged as Will confesses his love for Megan, only for her to say that he’s just having a crush and that he must accept she is just his teacher.

Sam later gets into the flat only to be confronted by Megan, Sam saying it was “obvious it was staged”, though Megan turns things on Sam and accuses the teen of spying on her and Leanne.

“I always knew you were weird,” she says, with Sam hitting back: “It’s not like that and you know it.”

She accuses him of being a “pervert” and “peeping Tom” – to which he in turn hits back and calls her a “pervert” – though she threatens him with police involvement and word spreading around school.

“If you’re even thinking about retaliating, don’t bother,” she adds. “My advice to you – keep your nose out of other people’s business, because if you don’t, I will ruin you.”

Dad Nick later finds Sam upset, offering to help him through what’s secretly bothering him, though Sam storms off, saying his dad is “clueless” and that “no one can” help him.

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
