DON’T MISS IT!!! From Script to Screen: The Untold Stories Behind Virgin River Season 7
For all its charm and tranquility, Virgin River is far more than a sleepy small-town romance on screen. Behind every steaming cup of coffee at Jack’s Bar and every golden-hued sunset by
the water lies a world of creative chaos, determination, and cinematic magic. As Netflix prepares to unveil Virgin River Season 7 — expected to be its most emotional and ambitious yet —
the curtain lifts on the untold stories of how this beloved show comes to life.

Filming in Nature’s Backyard
While many streaming dramas rely on carefully controlled studio sets, Virgin River’s beauty is authentically wild. The series is filmed across British Columbia, Canada — a stand-in for Northern California’s lush terrain — where the crew must dance with the unpredictable rhythms of nature.
“It’s breathtaking, but it’s not always easy,” one crew member confessed. “You’ll set up the perfect shot under golden sunlight, and fifteen minutes later you’re fighting through fog or a torrential downpour.”
Mother Nature is both muse and menace. Season 7’s production faced its fair share of weather tantrums — sudden rainstorms, swirling winds, and the occasional snow flurry that wasn’t in the script. Yet, these natural quirks have become part of the show’s charm, giving Virgin River a realism that few other series can match.
And then there’s the wildlife. Production has paused for wandering deer, swooping eagles, and, once, a black bear ambling curiously near the set. “You can’t script moments like that,” laughs director Andy Mikita. “They remind us that Virgin River may be fictional, but the world around it is vibrantly real.”
A Family Beyond the Script
Off-screen, the cast and crew form the beating heart of the series — a family forged in shared laughter, late-night shoots, and countless cups of coffee. During the filming of Season 7, camaraderie was stronger than ever. Between takes, actors could often be found gathered around the craft tables, swapping stories, singing along to playlists in their trailers, or rehearsing lines together under the whispering trees.

For stars Alexandra Breckenridge (Mel) and Martin Henderson (Jack), that off-screen connection is the secret behind their on-screen chemistry. “We trust each other completely,” Henderson once said in an interview. “That trust allows us to dig deeper — to find honesty in every moment, even the painful ones.”
