Lily has been creasingly drawn to Cane since he invited Genoa City, Wisconsin’s main players, to his chateau in the south of France under the guise of being Aristotle Dumas. Their return to GC has seen ongoing interactions, but also the insertion of Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) into the equation.

Phyllis Summers’ Factor Is An Issue

Phyllis has been toying with Cane’s emotions for months. Initially, he recruited her to be part of Arabesque, the company his father’s stolen wealth funded.

The trio of Cane, Phyllis, and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), who was also tagged to help, accomplished nothing. Phyllis and Billy were constantly at odds, even though they shared the goal of getting Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). That failure reinforced why the Moustache has long reigned in GC.

The end of Arabesque happened because Phyllis stole Cane’s artificial intelligence program and gave it to Victor. She still hasn’t acknowledged doing so, with that business betrayal potentially being the precursor to her also wrecking Cane’s plan to reunite with Lily.

Cane Ashby Wants His Family Back

Cane lost the trust of his children after Newman Media published a hit piece on him. That was part of Victor’s plan to respond to the threat that Arabesque posed last summer.

As viewers recall, Cane intended to use his AI weapon to take control of Newman Enterprises, Jabot, and other legacy companies in GC. He believed that doing so would impress Lily and the twins.

Lily came to understand Cane’s intentions and nearly had the AI program. He agreed to give it to her so she could destroy it, but Phyllis bollixed that breakthrough and later cavorted with Cane.

Lily Winters Leaves Town In The New Year?

Fans know that Khalil is pregnant, which implies maternity leave will be taken. That scenario generally means an actor can record advanced scenes, with the character being seen sporadically until a full return to the cast or an explained exit happens.

Assume that Khalil won’t be recording scenes for a handful of months and then returns to the cast at some point next year. With whatever advanced scenes the actor might record, Lily likely won’t be regularly seen in the early part of the new year.

An obvious exit strategy would have Lily leave GC to visit with one or both of the twins for an extended period. The Cane character was recently recast as Flynn.

So, Cane seems unlikely to leave unless a remarriage to Lily happens shortly and he accompanies her on a honeymoon tour that includes stops to see their children. Flynn’s character could return to town, with Lily following.

But if they don’t reconcile or remarry, then Khalil’s character may need to get away to make an objective decision and then return after her head and heart are stabilized.
